Google Reveals its Wildest Invention Ever – ‘Project Glass’ for Augmented Reality Display Glasses

What do you get when you combine wearable glasses with Augmented reality? You get an amazing piece of technology by Google!

Google has revealed ‘Project Glass’, its latest initiative for developing a wearable display glasses based on Augmented Reality. It is almost similar to what we’ve been seeing in movies for years, like Robocop.
Augmented what?? Augmented Reality is a technology that combines the physical real-world environment with interactive digital data providing you with information. In a similar way, the glasses will display interactive information in front of your eyes like messages, navigation directions etc. Sounds cool, right? Imagine the future – the glasses will display AR information such as today’s weather when you look to the sky, new emails & messages when they arrive, video calls, voice commands and so more in front of your eyes as we had always imagined the future. According to TheVerge, these pair of glasses might be released this year itself with a price somewhere in the range of $250 to $600. The glasses do look cool and will, most probably, connect to an Android smartphone and use its resources such as Data connection, storage and more. It would be wonderful to see if Google releases an API for developers to expand their creativity and use it in the Augmented Reality realm.
The glasses might be self contained i.e., they won’t rely on any phone. This is what Google’s co-founder, Sergey Brin, told Robert Scoble in a party.
Project Glass is being developed by a team of engineers known as Google X in a secret lab somewhere near Google’s main Mountain View, California campus . Google is so secretive about the lab that many employees even have no idea of its existence. Rumors have it that the projects being carried out inside the Lab also include robots and space elevators!
